These are not served on the halfshell, my friend

The other day, Molly and I were ready for dinner and she wanted mozzarella sticks so we decided to go to OMI (The Old Miner's Inn) where they have all the tasty fried food. I also suggested we try the Rocky Mountain Oysters because I've been saying all along that I would try them. So we did. This is what they look like. Pretty harmless looking, right?

The definition of Rocky Mountain oysters from foodreference.com: "Prairie Oysters or Rocky Mountain Oysters, a term common in the western U.S., refers to sheep's, bull's, boar's or prairie dog's testicles used for food. Usually breaded and deep fried, they can also be sauteed, braised or poached."

Mostly they just taste like fried things. Most people would eat them without knowing what they are and probably enjoy them. But knowing what they are, most people won't go near them.

Yesterday we got out of work early and it was hot hot hot so we decided to go swimming. We drove out to one place and walked down the river quite a ways but didn't really find a good spot so we decided to go back and drive down further and try to find the great spot we found the other day while we were rafting. I knew it was at a curve of the river with a big rock face on the left and I spotted it after a short time and thankfully there was a handy parking area right there and we walked a short distance on the river to get there. It was totally worth it and now we plan to go as often as possible. YAY! I looovvve swimming, it's what I've been missing all summer. Glad we solved that problem.

We load in the next show tomorrow and then Molly and I are going to Durango for a day or two, so my next post will probably be about that. And I only have nine days left :( :(
